Magnificent Osprey in Flight

I just love this flight photo. The blue sky. The wingspan. It's all so peaceful. This photo was taken with my 300 mm Tamron lens with a UV filter and standard lens hood.

Osprey at Honeymoon Island

The osprey on Honeymoon Island are very active in February. I lost count, but we must have seen at least ten nesting pairs today. At one point, we were surrounded by osprey on all sides. There were osprey above us, in front of us, behind us, and directly overhead darting in and out between the trees - lower than I've ever seen there before.
I have some other photos I'll post later - stayed tuned for bald eagle pictures.

Osprey in Flight

I captured this photo in Apollo Beach, FL. It's only the third or fourth time I've had an Osprey fly directly over my head and the first time I've been able to get the sun, moon, and stars to line up quickly enough to take a picture.

Osprey Nest

This picture doesn't really do justice to the size of an Osprey nest. When building a nest, an Osprey doesn't just pick up sticks lying around on the ground - they break them off of trees!

Serious birds use serious sticks to build their homes.

Osprey Eating Breakfast

I snapped these osprey pictures near the entrance of E. G. Simmons Park, a Hillsborough County Regional Park, near Ruskin, FL. The park has several nesting platforms and sitings are not uncommon.
